Exchanging knowledge is something I deeply enjoy and have been doing through conference talks since 2015. I believe it’s one of the best ways to contribute back to the whole community of knowledge creators out there, the giants whose shoulders we stand on.
Last month, I got to give a different talk each week, a rather rushed adventure, and I wanna share a little bit of that journey, so buckle up!
First stop: Rails World Amsterdam
Since Ruby and Rails are one of the core technologies we have expertise on at Codeminer42, of course, we couldn’t miss being part of Rails World, the largest Rails conference in the world! We were already thrilled to be one of the sponsors of the conference, and fortunately, I also got to have a lightning talk approved as well. Titled as “Where is it?! – Avoiding the XY Problem”, in this talk, I spoke about the XY problem, which can be summarized as “asking for help about a theoretical solution and not about the problem”. This problem was already recognized since the early days of StackOverflow, and just got worse now because of the way people blindly trust answers given by AIs.
The talk wasn’t recorded, but you can see the slides here: https://speakerdeck.com/talyssonoc/rails-world-2025-lighting-talks-where-is-it-avoiding-the-xy-problem.
It was really great to be part of such an awesome conference, from the carefully selected talks to the details that make everything even better, like the Ruby Embassy passports!
Next: Domain-Driven Design Brasil
The next week we had the first meetup of the Domain-Driven Design Brasil community, the first community about DDD and related subjects of Brazil! For this meetup, we decided to talk about the fundamentals of DDD, and I got to talk about strategic design, the part of DDD about people, knowledge sharing, and communication management. You can access the slides here https://speakerdeck.com/talyssonoc/ddd-brasil-entao-voce-quer-ser-um-praticante-de-ddd, and the recording can be watched here:
We also had talks about tactical patterns and a case of project modernization through reactive DDD, EventStorming, and Team Topologies. And the recordings will be available soon!
The São Paulo tour continues: The Developer’s Conference SP
The week right after the meetup, I went back to São Paulo to attend the 2025 edition of The Developer’s Conference SP (aka TDC SP), where I also spoke about Domain-Driven Design, a topic I really appreciate. In a talk titled “So you wanna be a DDD practitioner”, I gave a short but well-grounded introduction about the DDD practices that I think efficiently create the right intuition in one’s mind about what DDD is about, ranging from strategic design to tactical patterns.
The slides for this talk can be seen here: https://speakerdeck.com/talyssonoc/tdc-sp-2025-entao-voce-quer-ser-um-praticante-de-ddd
Last stop: Nerdearla Buenos Aires
This was my first time in Buenos Aires, and I couldn’t have been better received. Codeminer42 was already present at a different edition of the event before, but this is the first time we were there in person, and it was incredible!
Nerdearla is the largest free science and technology event in Hispanic America, and it really lives up to the title. This was the first time I got to see programming, soft skills, science, and a lot of nerd stuff in an environment like that! It really builds the bridge between people who are just starting to get interested in science and tech and those who have been working with it since the 70s!
In my talk there, titled “LLM as domain experts”, I spoke about how we can use LLMs to empower our team when access to domain experts is scarce or nonexistent. You’ll be surprised when you find out it’s not about replacing people 😉 The slides for the talk can be seen here https://speakerdeck.com/talyssonoc/nerdearla-argentina-2025-llms-as-domain-experts, and if you want to watch the talk, it’s already live!
See you around!
Giving these talks was really fulfilling and I can’t wait to exchange even more knowledge. If I couldn’t meet you in one of these events, I hope to see you around at the next one!
We want to work with you. Check out our Services page!
