How we foster the community

Empowering people to change the tech scene

November was a great month for our commitment to getting closer to the community! We had the first edition of two programs: one that aims to foster people are just starting their career, and the other targeted at young entrepreneurs in technology. I’m here to tell you all about how it was, our goals and the results!

Codeminer42 Founders Lab

Entrepreneurship is always at the rise, and now in these AI-powered times it’s even more! So many possibilities, so many ideas that are finally feasible. Codeminer42 wants to be closer and help people who are venturing this path, especially if they’re working with our main expertise: technology and software development! That’s when Codeminer42 Founders Lab was conceived: an immersion program to instruct young entrepreneurs, give them valuable feedback and insights, and one of the most important activities when you’re in business: networking!

During three encounters, we had presentations and discussions about several subjects of interest to entrepreneurs, when we had the honor to have multiple featured professionals talking about their areas of expertise:

  • Idea validation, Lean process and project and product management;
  • Technical and infrastructure decisions and control;
  • Legal and fiscal concerns when it comes to starting and leading a business

All of these presentations, along with the presence of the experts, gave participants the opportunity to ask questions and check their understanding of what it takes to drive a business.

But that wouldn’t be enough if we didn’t empower them to validate their ideas and get feedback to know what to do next! For that, we invited established founders and investors to listen to a pitch presented by each of the participants and give them feedback and insights.

Of course, we can’t give details about the ideas themselves, but it was refreshing to see a lot of good ideas moving towards becoming even greater ideas from now on, and we can’t wait to see their next steps! We want to thank all the speakers, the pitch board and the participants for such an amazing time!

Imersão42

While we’re committed to helping young entrepreneurs take their first steps, our mission goes beyond that. We also want to empower those who are beginning their journey in tech as developers. For that, we created the Imersão42 initiative, with the goal of providing quality content about the fundamental steps when becoming a fullstack web developer.

In Imersão42, we had two weeks of daily videos with theory and hands-on practice about multiple subjects of fundamental importance for our goal:

  • React componentization
  • Database modeling
  • Separation of concerns and software design, both in backend and in frontend code
  • REST API design
  • React APIs
  • Data-fetching and error-handling in the frontend
  • Fullstack authentication
  • Background jobs

You can watch all the videos in the official YouTube playlist.

But again, just content isn’t enough, we wanted to give actual experience and feedback! So we opened a form so people could register to receive an exclusive mentorship session with some of the miners! For that, the selected participants had a challenge to complete and by the end of the third week of the initiative, they could show the mentors the code they developed and get actual feedback: what could be different, what they can improve, what is on the right path, and even insights on how the mentors themselves would have solved it.

If you didn’t get the change to participate in the mentorship session, you still can use the challenge to practice! Here’s the link for it: https://gist.github.com/talyssonoc/a47b1598955461cf500ad2ea58ab2cc8

We thank all the instructors, mentors and participants for the awesome result of this edition of the Imersão42 initiative!
